Individual Needs & Nurture
Accelerated learning, enrichment and timely support will be planned for gifted students and those with additional learning needs. Using the core elements of gifted education, i.e. high-order thinking skills, creativity and personal-social competence, we aim to optimize students’ strengths by providing challenging learning opportunities.
The Individual Needs program provides Individual Education Plans for those children with SEN ensuring that they meet their full potential. Our wonderful nurture team supports and develops social, emotional and personal well-being of students.
We are a bilingual school. We want to ensure every student can successfully access all elements of our curriculum regardless of their English/Chinese level. In Chinese, we divide each class into two language groups, one for native students and one for learning Chinese as an additional language. We also understand that for many of our students, English is a second or even a third language, and some require special assistance in learning English.
We offer an EAL programme (English as an Additional Language) to students who require assistance. This programme ensures that all students can keep up with our curriculum and enjoy their time at Chinese Academy. As part of the admissions procedures, we will assess the student’s language ability and have a personalised plan ready for when they start at CAPS.
EAL students receive extra lessons, in small groups or individually, where they consolidate basic English skills focused on the four main core areas of the language: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
