  • To transcend the ideology through architecture, the modernized quadrangle and buildings are mostly inconspicuous structures of wood and stone, which nestle in the surrounding ecology and easily thought as landscape features in a Chinese garden. The campus symbolizes the Confucius spirit of "the Union of Man and Nature".
  • The Academy’s intention is about knowing and representing the essence of Chinese architecture and not simple imitation; it is about reinventing the innate spirits of Chinese structural design whilst incorporating the personality of the West. There is a respectful distance between structures so that students have the leisure to contemplate and see the workings of nature, and be inspired by the wisdom and intellectual discovery from the holistic philosophies of the East to the scientific discovery of perspective, logic, motion, gravity and philosophies in the West.

The school is situated in the prime and historic location of Confucius Hall on Caroline Hill Road, Causeway Bay. Since 1935, the Confucius Hall of Hong Kong has been revered for its historical role in Hong Kong’s cultural development as a base for scholars promoting Chinese culture. The new campus of Chinese Academy organically fuses Chinese and Western design concepts, which resonates with the architectural heritage style of the Chinese Siheyuan and the Western monastic style of Oxbridge. It would conserve and enhance the historical and cultural significance of the site, while offering a most favourable and well-equipped learning environment for our students.

Chinese Academy is committed to nurturing distinguished students with an optimal learning environment.

Taking reference to the classical elegance of the Chinese Shuyuan, the design of the school campus would have a well-resolved balance between space and aesthetics, integrating the unique style of western institutions.

Students are edified to pursue knowledge through taking inspiration from ancient Chinese sages, where a community of mutual support is encouraged and creativity is stimulated.

  • Be relevant to life – students will explore the world around them; they will engage in projects and higher order problem-solving tasks that are relevant to real-life situations

  • Be differentiated – each student is unique and has his/her own preferences in learning; differentiation is done through offering options in content and process that cater to each student’s interests and abilities

  • Encourage self-expression and wide exposure – students are encouraged to communicate and collaborate through interactive learning tasks.  They will have opportunities to explore a wide range of tasks across different disciplines

  • Be supportive – the school provides a stimulating environment with an abundance of learning aids, multimedia resources and information technology; school staff will also work closely with and parents to facilitate students’ learning

  • Be achieved through intrinsic motivation – children are endowed with an intrinsic curiosity about the world around them; they will be encouraged to formulate questions,  find answers and pursue further investigations on their own

  • Be culturally diverse  – students develop global perspectives while being immersed in Chinese culture through continuous exposure to rich traditions from around the world
